Some Stuff That We Do

Mercado

Mercado is our sort-of bimonthly artist market. The first few were a total hoot and the next one will be along soon.

Trails

Trails Forepaw‘s monthly drawing night/ publishing experiment just keeps getting better.

Tape Projects

Tape Projects are holding a series of artist talks at our place, usually on the last monday of every month. Check their site for info.

Run! You Beasts!

Run! You Beasts! This is the short film and video compilation DVD we helped Pip make in 2006. R!YB! II is now seeking submissions!

Summer Winds

Summer Winds are putting on monthly shows here from now on. Each night is a smorgasbord of artschool punk and herky-jerky hottness, with hand-picked performers from all over the country and beyond.

Head Muzak

Head Muzak was an interactive installation by Michael Prior that lived at Forepaw in March of this year. You can watch the little video we made and read the artists statement here.

MONDAY: Artist Talk by Dan West

Tape Projects presents an Artist Talk by Dan West at Forepaw. 7pm, Monday the 26th of February. Looks like this might be a regular occurence, too.

The Skinny:

Dan West is an accomplished artist/producer/mentor who works individually and collaboratively on some of Australia’s most innovative sound and temporal projects. Trained originally as a jazz musician at the University of Melbourne, Dan recently founded OUTPOST, a Melbourne division of Share.org, an international network of sound and video artists dedicated to live improvisation and experimentation. Dan was also a Producer/Mentor to local hip-hop artists and rappers of the next generation on DIG DEEP, a community project with young men from the Victorian Juvenile Justice system. Dan is a prolific collaborator with Melbourne electronic outfit, VELURE. He lectures in sound design at the CAE in Melbourne, and has composed several scores for short films and installations.

Mercado This Saturday the 24th

So, this Saturday from 2pm we'll be hosting our first market, with a big crew of local makers hawking their zines, books, comix, prints, muffins, t-shirts, jewellery, sculptures, badges, posters, stickers, music, video, postcards and, you know, Stuff, plus a whole bunch of Other Stuff that we'll be selling on behalf of folks who can't be here in person.

There'll be some space out the back and the front for reading / comparing / swapping yr purchases and general hanging out. After 6pm Deaf!Deaf!, Fabulous Diamonds, Maximum Awesome (last minute line-up change...michael bray & jarrod zlatic's noise/techno groop), KissesBuhBye and DJs Radical Flex + Darling George will be playing, which is as good a reason as any to stick around, don't y'reckon?

TONITE: Pixel Pirates II

This friday we're gonna show this movie by Soda_Jerk called Pixel Pirates II, "a sci-fi / biblical epic / action movie with a subplot of troubled romance". It stars "Elvis Presley, Moses, The Hulk, Monkey, Batman & Robin, Michael Jackson and The Ghostbusters". It's "an hour long narrative remix video constructed from samples pirated from over 300 film and music sources. It contains no original audio or video footage." Does this not sound like it could be the greatest thing you've never seen, maybe?

Everyone who HAS seen it tells us PPII is awesome ("new favourite film" even), and it'll be free, and you've got nothing else goin on friday night anyway, right?

We'll most likely show a bunch of other things you've never seen or probly even heard of to fill the night out (not "filler" tho' no way — this stuff will be SHIT-HOT too!), and you can BYO food and drinks, and cushions (Because we always run out), if you like. It'll be fun, like always.

9pm friday the 16th, 275 high st nthct.
