Some Stuff That We Do

Mercado

Mercado is our sort-of bimonthly artist market. The first few were a total hoot and the next one will be along soon.

Trails

Trails Forepaw‘s monthly drawing night/ publishing experiment just keeps getting better.

Tape Projects

Tape Projects are holding a series of artist talks at our place, usually on the last monday of every month. Check their site for info.

Run! You Beasts!

Run! You Beasts! This is the short film and video compilation DVD we helped Pip make in 2006. R!YB! II is now seeking submissions!

Summer Winds

Summer Winds are putting on monthly shows here from now on. Each night is a smorgasbord of artschool punk and herky-jerky hottness, with hand-picked performers from all over the country and beyond.

Head Muzak

Head Muzak was an interactive installation by Michael Prior that lived at Forepaw in March of this year. You can watch the little video we made and read the artists statement here.

Short Stuff on Saturday

OK, we've got nothing really going on this weekend so we thought we'd pull out the projector and screen a selection of short, strange videos and miscellaneous moving images we've collected lately, everything from rare musical performances to animations to Youtube homemade weirdness. Our brains and hard-drives are filling up with this crap so we may as well share it with you and the random strangers filing past our front window...

So this Saturday evening from dusk until about 8.45 or so there'll be things to watch at Forepaw. The doors'll be open so you can wander in with your drinks or your food or whatever, hang out, and watch as much or as little as you like. We think this would be an excellent way to kick off your Saturday night activities.

After that we're thinking of shutting up shop and heading up to the Afterdark Bar at 565 High St to watch the Electro Fantastico gig with Knucklehead McSpazzatron, Talkshow Boy, Lustbaden and the Greenmatics. It's only 2 bucks(!) to get in and it kicks off at 9pm.

TALK / TRAILZ

A couple things going on:

This coming MONDAY the 26th of March at 7pm, Tape Projects presents the second of their monthly series of Artist Talks at Forepaw.

This time around it's Eamon Sprod, who, in his very own words, "is a Melbourne based sound artist working under the name TARAB, examining the interplay of field recordings and sounds generated from found objects. His work explores the possibilities of personal chartings and
reactions to the urban environment, reveling in the decay and detritus to be found there."

If you're curious about Eamon and his work as TARAB, check out his myspace for some sounds and images. TIME WELL SPENT, we say.

Then, the day after that, which is of course TUESDAY the 27th of March, it'll be time for TRAILS, our free monthly drawing thing. You know the drill: 6pm start until whenever, bring some pens or friends or whatever if you like, and we'll sit around and make sweet, sweet art and talk rubbish.

One thing has changed though: We can no longer afford to print up those lovely little booklets of everybody's pictures and give 'em away each month. Sorry. We just can't. So we ask that you sacrifice that extra beer on the night and give us a couple bucks or so for a copy, if you want one. We don't know exactly how much they'll be, but it'll just be enough to cover the the cost of printing, no more. This'll allow us to up the production values a bit, and also do larger print runs. It still costs nothing to come along and draw, of course. Ok? OK!

So, Monday at 7, Tuesday at 6. See you then.
