Artist Talk: Callum Cooper
Callum Cooper is full-time film auteur in Australia. His VCA graduating film ‘2:41 Upfield’, based on interviews with visually impaired writer Steve Tara, was nominated for Best Animation at the AFI Awards in 2005. Since graduating Callum has applied his knowledge of animation to live action, creating a unique style within the Australia film industry. Recent works have been selected for Hiroshima Animation Festival, Seoul Film Festival, Edinburgh Film Festival and 3 music-oriented works screened as part of the Melbourne Film Festival. He has just finished directing an experimental film through the support of the Australian Film Commission. His past experimental screen works have been exhibited in the Boston Museum of Contemporary Art, SALA Week and the Sydney Powerhouse Museum.
