The Community Foundation’s DC Office of Philanthropy and Donor Services works closely with individuals, families, and businesses to match donor intent with community opportunity to create deeper local impact. We serve an important role in the District of Columbia as a bridge between generous individuals, government and business organizations, and local nonprofits.
We are proud to oversee the following initiatives focused on DC:
+ Sharing DC
Sharing DC is a strategic, donor-led funding effort for generous residents of the District. Sharing DC facilitates education and civic engagement around local issues by bringing donors together to learn, first-hand, about the challenges facing Washington’s most vulnerable residents and engage in a grant review process for investing in organizations that are working to make a difference in the lives of children and families in the District of Columbia. Last year, Sharing DC donors awarded over $132,000 in grants to workforce development and adult education programs that support individuals, youth, and families to improve literacy proficiency while learning skills or earning credentials needed to be competitive in the job market.
+ Partnership to End Homelessness
Led by the Greater Washington Community Foundation and the District Government’s Interagency Council on Homelessness, the Partnership brings together the public and private sectors to advance effective and innovative solutions that will accelerate the development of affordable housing and ensure homelessness in DC is rare, brief, and nonrecurring. We believe that ending homelessness is possible if we work together — and it is a smart investment in our city’s continued prosperity.
