Donor Passion in Action

Kevin Beverly

Kevin’s thoughtful approach to philanthropy is grounded in a practice of listening and learning from the community. Knowing education was key to his success, Kevin has devoted much of his personal time and resources to advance organizations helping children and youth achieve their full potential. In 2021, we were proud to honor Kevin as our Montgomery County Philanthropist of the Year.

Ann Manheimer

Ann Manheimer’s legacy provides a way for people to prepare for service-oriented work that will meet future societal needs. Her inspiration grew from her career at the US Department of Education, volunteer work with seniors and animal rescue, and travel to places of both great natural beauty and stunning man-made art. Ann has chosen The Community Foundation to carry out this sweeping vision with confidence that her wishes will be carefully carried out for generations to come.

Richard Collins II and Dawn Collins

On May 20, 2017, a local tragedy occurred when 2nd Lieutenant Richard W. Collins III was fatally stabbed in an apparent hate crime three days before he was set to graduate from Bowie State University. His parents, Richard and Dawn Collins, decided to pay tribute to their son’s legacy through a memorial fund at The Community Foundation.
