This is what he has to say about it: "Some people would call it art, i prefer to call it a constellation. It encompasses sound, projection, light works, an interactive installation, drawings, objects, photographs and soup. This is a measure of time (travel) (has gently amassed over the course of just under a year of living in melbourne), drawn from/ with what is at hand. Sometimes intuitive/ obtuse/ oblique investigations of environment, syntax, colour, light, texture, rhythm, listening, mapping, narrative, decay. Come along to construct and collapse, bathe in space, play, talk, eat soup, lay on the floor. (and say hello before i leave for japan and europa!)"

Take note of that mention of soup: if you are hungry for eye/ear/stomach food on Sunday evening you know where the action is.

Fri 9: Food. The top two influences listed on his myspace are Suicide and Serge Gainsbourg, and that kinda nails it, but, you know, not really. Sparse, raw songs with crooning vox and minimal backing. "Say No to Thugs" is a stand-out earworm.

Barrage: The Big Issue sez: "The austere moodiness of early 80s new romanticism and the bounce-riddled aesthetics of early 90s melodic electronics ... [with] a strangely disturbing edge." Mess + Noise sez: "A chronicle of order and disorder for a golden dawn" which is, uh, meaningless, but has a nice ring to it. We say that Barrage is just about the cutest little boy you'll ever meet, and his brand of fucked pop is sweet AND sour, and largely pork-free.

Das Butcher reckons: "Mother used to always speak backwards to me, then one day I found a casio rapman in hard rubbish, I got dressed all in blood, made some noise, & this is what happened." He's in Melbourne now and we're not sure what to expect: Cheap toy guitars, mixers, microphones, turntables with busted records and computers are all part of his kit, and his recorded output seems pretty varied... His rekkid label (UFM) says "If the Dead C had kept making records in the vein of 'Operation Of The Sonne', but ditched the drums and the electric guitars, they might have ended up here. If the Clean got incredibly lazy and started forgetting to finish songs or turn the radio off or sing properly..." AA. $cheap

Dworzec were probably our favourite Melbourne "thing" when they were kicking around in the early 2000s, an extraordinary and now kind of legendary example of "free-floating, unhinged group-think improvisation". Jon Dale once said that, and he also said this: "Dworzec are a truly incredible outfit - slow-breathing, time-melting, mind-expansion group thought of a most beautiful kind." They disappeared at some point and haven't been sighted for at least 5
years, but recently there's been a couple of attempts at getting them to play again, neither of which ended up occurring due to a) stolen equipment and b) a canceled show. But it's finally happening. At our place. Do not miss this.

Melbourne teenager Francis Plagne was once described in the Age as having "the sensibility of a middle-aged musicologist and the free-form enthusiasm of a teenage music nerd". He's put out a couple of albums that blend pop, drone and musique concrete. He'll be collaborating with Marco Fusinato on the night.

Marco has collaborated with Thurston fucking Moore. He's a visual artist and musician and also plays in the experimental / free / noise group SOLVER with John Nixon. He also runs the FreewaySound label, which, apart from releasing his own and SOLVER's stuff, has also
released albums by the likes of NZ free-noise-alchemists A Handful of Dust.

Julian Williams says this about himself: "Hello, My name is Julian Williams and I've been doing my thing in music and experimental theatre in Melbourne for years now, how they go so fast." These things have included another old-Melbourne-favourite The Solids, a million
solo tapes and rekkids on his own From The Same Mother label, and currently Hi-God People. He has a new album out now/soon on Synaesthesia called Liquidambar.

Saturday 19 Jan

<del>Downtown (millionth show at forepaw and 2nd last show ever!)</del>
<ins>Wasted Truth</ins> (2/3rds of Downtown + Lakes)
Bum Creek
Super Star (ex-Deaf!Deaf!)
Emesis (from Brisvegas)

7.30pm.
